What is PatchMyPC?
PatchMyPC is a software management tool that automates the deployment and updating of third-party applications across our organization. With PatchMyPC, we can ensure that all essential apps remain up-to-date, secure, and compliant, without the need for manual intervention from IT or users.
What to Expect with PatchMyPC
As we transition to using PatchMyPC for managing third-party app updates, you may start to see new notifications in your system tray. These notifications will prompt you when an update is available for applications currently installed on your machine.
Understanding the Notifications
When an app requires an update, you will see a notification similar to the one below (see screenshot). This notification gives you two options:
- Close and Update: If you're not actively using the application that needs to be updated, you can choose this option to close it and apply the update immediately.
- Snooze: If you're in the middle of using the app, you can select the snooze option, which will delay the update for a specified period. This gives you time to finish your work before the update is applied.

What You Need to Do
- If you see the notification and can afford to close the application at that time, click "Close All and Update" to ensure that the latest version of the app is installed.
- If you are in the middle of a task, use the "Snooze Update" option to postpone the update until you're ready.
