How to send a secure email message
There are two ways to send a secure email message
- Add [encrypt] within the subject of the email. (Be sure to include the brackets.)
- Use the Proofpoint Outlook add-in
How to use the Proofpoint Outlook add-in.
- Within your new Outlook email message, click the Proofpoint add-in from the Outlook ribbon, then select the Send Secure button
You will know this worked via two ways:
- As you click the button, you will see a banner above the Send button indicating that the add-in is in process of sending the message securely:
- In your Sent Items, you will see that the add-in has added [encrypt] to the subject
How to send a secure email message using Outlook Web (OWA)
The Proofpoint ribbon button will only be visible while composing a new mail message within Outlook Web
1. As you finish creating the new mail message to be sent, do not click the traditional "send" button, but instead click the Proofpoint ribbon button, and then click Send Secure:
