Recipients who receive a secured email from Patriot will access the secured message through our Proofpoint Encryption platform. Below are the steps on how to access a secured email message.
Open a secured message
- Click here link: The secure message will be avail within the Proofpoint portal in approximately 2 minutes after receiving the secure message email.
The recipient will enter their Proofpoint password and click Continue.
After authenticating, the recipient will be brought directly into that mail message where they can respond accordingly:
Note: If this is the first time the recipient has received a secured Proofpoint email, they will be prompted to register an account before they can view the message.
Note: If the external recipient clicks the secure message link immediately after receiving the email, they will see the following alert. This is due the fact that the message is not technically available in the Proofpoint portal for about ~2 minutes. The message advises the recipient to try again after ~2 minutes. Otherwise, if a secure message link is clicked and that message was originally sent 15 days prior, the message will not be available as secure messages are only available for 15 days within the portal.
Password Resets
If they have forgotten their password, the recipient can click the Forgot Password link from the login page where they will be prompted to answer Security Questions to self-serve password resets in the web browser:
