This guide will go through uninstalling Windows Updates. Sometimes, a Windows Update can cause system crashes or other errors.
Please only follow these steps if provided by the IT Team.
This guide has been updated to show a video example and to update the screenshots. These updated graphics use the May 28th, 2024 update, KB5037591 as an example. The original guide was made with the March 10, 2021 update, KB5000802 which was causing users to get a system crash and reboot when they tried to print.
Please see the below video example and proceeding video instructions.
1. Open Windows Settings by going to the Start Menu and clicking on the Settings icon.
2. Go to Windows Update and select Update History.
3. Scroll down on this page and select Uninstall Updates.
4. Find the update you need to uninstall and click on Uninstall. A confirmation box will pop-up and you will have to select Uninstall again.
You will locate it by its KB number.
5. A user account control message may popup. You just want to hit Yes on it.
6. It will uninstall, then you will need to reboot your computer.
7. The screen should say “Working on Updates” and then will restart on its own. At this point, let it complete the process and you are all set!
